Celebrate National Public Lands Day!
Today is National Public Lands Day!
It’s a time to celebrate one of America’s best ideas! A place for people to roam free, create extraordinary memories, + completely connect with the natural world. These are our public lands.
So what are some of the things you can do to celebrate this wonderful day? Well…
Get out there + appreciate the beauty of public lands!
All National Park Service sites + many other locations do not have an entrance fee on National Public Lands Day! Go experience all the wildlife refuges, monuments, parks, forests, trails, historic sites, memorials, + everything wild that makes America so breathtakingly beautiful! Only once you experience these special places, do you realize how important it is to protect + preserve these environments.
Need help finding the closest public land to you? I tried out this helpful app called “US Public Lands” + really found it useful. It highlights all public lands on a map + indicates which branch operates it (National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S Forest Service, US Fish & Wildlife Service, etc.) You do have to pay a small fee, but I really do think it’s worth it!
Respect wild places!
Love the Earth by picking up trash you see on your journey + remember to use Leave No Trace principles. For more tips on being an amazing + responsible outdoorist, check out this article I wrote!

Vote for the outdoors!
I can not stress this enough! Why?
Your vote directly impacts the future of our public lands!
Many representatives are voting against public lands + conservation efforts. To see what your representatives are voting for please use the resource here. Type your location in the search bar + see the letter grade the Outdoor Industry gave the representative. You can also click on their name to see how they voted on outdoor + public land issues. It’s also super helpful to call, email, + let your representatives know how you feel about these issues. Your voice matters + is highly valued!
Let’s stand together in solidarity to protect + preserve our beautiful public lands!
