Hidden Magical Blue Spring Near Ozark National Scenic Riverway

BLUE SPRING

Aptly named “Spring of the Summer Sky” by the Osage Native Americans, this vibrant bright blue beauty is guaranteed to amaze. The Blue Spring is 310 ft deep + one of the deepest springs in the US! The National Park Service notes, “If you were to place the Statue of Liberty in the Blue Spring, her torch would be five feet below the surface!” Although surrounded by lands of Ozark National Scenic Riverway, the Blue Spring is owned by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

When I finally stumbled upon the spring, it completely blew me away! I happily frolicked to the little boardwalk in my appropriately matching dress + gazed into the magical pool of vivid blue hues. I would have stayed the whole day, if it wasn’t for the bugs. They had a fun time attacking my face. But oh my, this place is something else. It is made of quiet, peaceful, + sacred energy. A true “jewel of the Ozarks.”

WHY SO BLUE?

The blue color is caused by the depth of the spring, type of weather (overcast, sunny, etc.), + the constant dissolving of minerals. The shade of blue may vary from day to day.
